“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9
In 1 John 1:9, to cleanse means “to free from faults, the defilement and guilt of sin, and to consecrate by cleansing or purifying” (Strongs Ex. Concord.); when the blood of Christ cleanses our sins, it does more than remove the blemish. It COMPLETELY frees us! Immediately, we are declared sacred, and therefore are able to reenter into His presence. We are no longer seen as unfit. Our sin along with the guilt that surrounds us is removed from us “as far as the east is from the west” (Psalm 103:12). Sin and guilt completely gone, and replaced with being declared sacred and welcome in His presence!
Did you know guilt is defined as, a feeling of condemnation? John 3:17, tells us that Jesus didn’t come to condemn, but that He came to save. Feelings of condemnation come straight from Satan. God will always point you to the cross!
To fully enjoy your freedom found in Christ, you have to LET THE GUILT GO!
