Why do we as the creation strive for abundance when the Creator is satisfied with just enough? We may have more time for the things that truly matter if we weren’t so focused on having it all…
Exodus 36:4-7
“So all the skilled workers who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left what they were doing and said to Moses, “The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done.” Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: “No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.” And so the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.”
Israel is bringing offerings to build the sanctuary, and the Lord stops them when they have enough. God is not interested in an abundance for Himself, nor is He greedy. He is not a ruler who wishes to hold His people oppressively. God does amazing things with the gifts he gives us and we need to give some of those gifts back to Him as an offering. This allows us to realize, as a body of believers, that God is at work for the benefit of all. Our offerings act as a catalyst for unity, and can often unlock blessing and favor throughout a body of believers.”
